We have once again improved on our free classifieds!

Power Ads

As shown above, we have redesigned our Ad Listings layout. Now it comes with a prominent headline, picture (if any), price (if any), available to destination field (if any) and a 100 characters description. This new layout applies to all Power Ads and Free Ads, only that Power Ads’ headlines are of a bigger font size than Free Ads’. The rotation algorithm (Cascading Rotation®) of Power Ads has not been changed. Power Ads will still be displayed throughout the website and above Free Ads in our Ad Listings pages.

Due to the rapid increase in user volume and other performance issues, we have decided to migrate our server from Hostway to ServerBeach. Our team of engineers have spent the last 2 weeks preparing for this migration and the whole process was completed successfully at 0300AM on 26 July 07 - USA, Chicago time. Kudos to them!

Why ServerBeach? Simply because they have hosted YouTube before, and are currently the chosen host for WordPress, among other major sites. Their rates are not the cheapest, but their service is 1 notch above the rest. Want to be ‘neighbors’ with us? Get yourself a server on the Beach.

A *new* wonderful surfing experience at Ablewise.com awaits you.

MoneyIt is really not that difficult to sell something online these days. Thousands are already doing it on a daily basis with more joining each week. The number of online millionaires are growing 3 times faster than those from traditional businesses. Are you one of them?

Below are 10 things-to-do in order to become a successful online advertiser:

1. Create valuable content for your ad - Create needs before they exist.

2. Create original content for your ad - Do not copy and paste content from other sites. Write you own.

3. Let potential buyers see the real you (and what you are trying to sell)

4. Write what is true for you - You must first believe in your own product before making others believe in you.

5. Add photos to reinforce your position - Add photos of your product and yourself. A picture tells a thousand words.

6. Do not over-promise and under-deliver

7. Reveal all paying options and payment amounts (if your product or service is not free)

8. Add as much contact information as you possibly can - The more you add, the more people will trust you.

9. Add testimonials from other satisfied buyers (if your product or service can be sold to many people at the same time)

10. Customer satisfaction - Provide good after-sales support. You do want to have repeat customers, don’t you?

Classifieds Picture Small

Digital media is slowly, but surely, taking over conventional (print media). Especially in the case of Classified Ads.

Here, we will make a comparison of Print VS Online Classified Ads.

Print

Update Time Lapse - Your ad will have to be printed and distributed/sold the next day, before it can reach out to your target audience.

Limited Growth - There is a limited space in any issue of newspapers allocated for classified ads. Not all advertisers who wish to advertise will get their ads printed.

Cost - The size of a printed ad is directly propotional to the cost of the ad. The more expensive it is, the bigger the ad.

Simple to Browse - No small little buttons that you can’t seem to locate to get to the next page.

Non-Reliance on Technology - What happens if your computer gets a virus attack? If the electricity fails? You can still read the classifieds!

No Download Time - Online information relies heavily on Internet connection and/or latency. The slower an Internet connection is, the slower one gets to read their news.

Online

Regular and Instantaneous Updates - Once you have posted your ad, it shows up immediately on the classified ads site.

Unlimited Space - There is simply no limit for the quantity of ads that can be displayed online. No worries that your ad might not be displayed due to lack of space.

Cheap Availability - Online classified sites now provide a generally uniform charge for users to post their classified ads. The size of the ads being posted are uniform in size, employing headlines and full-page actual ads.

Usability - Some classified ad sites on the Internet right now might be a little difficult to browse; a “Next” button might be small in size, and located in an obscure corner of the page. Other sites like Craigslist, Ablewise, are however, extremely user-friendly, even for those not tech-savvy.

Reliance on Technology - A computer with Internet connection is a must-have to use an online classified ads site. True, a computer with Internet connection might not always be at hand. But with the wide-spread use of the Internet and advancement in technology, computers with Internet connections are easily available, either via homes and/or Internet cafes, terminals at airports, etc. etc.

Internet Latency - The faster an Internet connection is, the faster it is to load content on the Internet. Not everyone has a broadband connection available, but most online classified sites do not utilize Internet-usage-heavy content to ease downloading time.

Choices, choices, choices.

By the latest estimate, there are over 150,000 active classified sites on the web today, with more coming out each month. The reason of this phenomenon - the pie is huge for sharing. The online spending on classified advertisements is ever going up, and was at 5 billion USD for the year of 2006 alone. By year 2010, the amount will reach 10 billion USD, and that is only a pessimistic estimate.

Among the hundreds of thousands of classified sites, there are some really good ones that you should advertise (and part your money) with, and some you should avoid at all cost (even if avoiding means spending cash!). It is like a huge playground with many different rides, some will bring you over the sky, some will just keep you going in circles until your head starts to ache. Some will even make you throw up and wish you had never ever ridden on it!

Online horizontal classifieds like Craigslist, Kijiji, Ablewise, USfreeads, Sell and Olx; vertical classifieds like Cars, Monster, Yahoo RealEstate, ABetterWay and Sublet; and aggregators like Oodle, GoogleBase and Edgeio are some of the better ones. You should try them today.

Online classifieds (or free classifieds) is one of the most powerful advertising tool available on the web today. Due to the simplicity of ad posting and the worldwide reach of classified sites, average advertisers can now sell their houses, cars, pets and even business ideas on a daily basis, and possibly for free, to thousands of potential customers.

There are many huge classified sites out there for us to choose from. Sites such as Craigslist, Oodle, Kijiji, Ablewise and Olx already have large worldwide user bases which the average user, like me and you, can tap into. Posting an ad with them (sometimes for a small fee) is as good as posting one in 100 other smaller sites. Your ad has good a chance of making a sale for you here.

These sites are not only popular and will generate lots of traffic to your ad, but they are also rich in features. Posting a photo along with your ad is no longer a hassle. Attaching files, posting comments, tracking statistics and adding enhancements are among the standard features these sites provide.

Online classifieds are gaining grounds on traditional newspaper advertising, slowly but steadily. The opportunity out there is huge and borderless (if you know what I mean). Look at the number of new players joining this playing field each month (like facebook and friendster) and you will realise that online classifieds are here to stay.
